Our guest lecturer will be Professor Niklaus Largier, who is Professor of German at the University of California. Professor Largier is one of the foremost scholars of medieval and early modern German literature. The author of seven books, he has written on topics such as medieval conceptions of time, the relationship between literature and religious practice, and the interaction between image and texts. His Grilk-lecture is entitled, “The Plasticity of the Soul: Mystical Darkness and the Invention of Aesthetic Experience.”
