Buzzard Roost - Hinckley Reservation
Hinckley Township
FREE!
There are some things you can always count on. The sun will rise in the east, taxes will always go up, and the world-famous buzzards will return to the Buzzard Roost on March 15th.
Buzzard spotters, young and old alike, will search the sky for turkey vultures with the "Official Buzzard Spotter," Dr. Bob Hinkle. But you have to get up pretty early in the morning to spot one of the first buzzards. The search begins at 7 a.m. Be sure to bring binoculars, cameras and a sense of humor. But remember "No one spots a buzzard until the Official Buzzard Spotter spots one first."
Like the buzzards, visitors have been returning to witness their arrival since the first Buzzard Sunday in 1957. On Buzzard Sunday, naturalists are on hand at the Buzzard Roost to answer questions and share stories from bygone "buzzard days."
Bring binoculars, cameras, and most importantly, a sense of humor. Count on hearing legends & tall tales of buzzard-spotting stories.
Buzzard Roost is located in Hinckley Reservation, at the corner of West Drive and State Road in Hinckley Township.
