Annual North Adams Open Studios October 16, 2009

The annual North Adams Open Studios (www.northadamsopenstudios.com) will take place on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 10am-6pm. Artists will open their studios, galleries will open their doors and artists will display their works throughout North Adams. In addition, special events have been programmed throughout the weekend.

Free admission passes to MASS MoCA for Open Studios weekend will be available at Open Studios locations. The evening of Saturday October 17 MASS MoCA will host a concert with Dr. Dog and The Winterpills at 8pm. www.massmoca.org.

The Hoosac River Lights IIa will present International light artists using sight and sound to celebrate the trout that live in the Hoosac River, and North Adams' history as the early 1900s capital of hot air ballooning. Saturday October 17th, 8 to 10PM at Holden Avenue by the Hoosac River (behind BigY, near MASS MoCA). www.hoosacriverlights.com

On Saturdary October 17, the Marafanyi West African Dance Workshop will be held at Frog Lotus Yoga in the Beaver Mill, and Marafanyi Live! will perform at Hoosac River Lights IIa, 8-10 PM. Sunday October 18, Marafanyi Drum, Dance & Song Live! will perform 1- 4 PM at the Beaver Mill. www.marafanyi.com.

Main Street Stage presents the Royal Berkshire Improv Troupe at 8pm Saturday October 17. www.mainstreetstage.org.
