Anne Olsen: Preservation Perfection December 22, 2009

Saving the past, one orphaned block or poorly constructed quilt top at a time, is the magnificent obsession of Anne Olsen of Laramie, Wyoming. The purchase of four 1875 Broken Dishes blocks in 1991 started Anne's fascination with old quilt parts. For Anne, antique blocks and tops beg to be finished with vintage fabric as she believes the original quiltmaker might have done. The process often involves painstaking deconstruction and careful reconstruction using traditional hand-stitching methods.
