Animania Festival is back for its fifth year in a row!! In 2006, a total of five events can be expected to occur right throughout the year along the East Coast, giving fans plenty to look forward to!
Not too sure what Animania is?
It's an event dedicated to the full celebration and appreciation of Japanese Animation and Pop Culture in Australia! Starting out Sydney's sole anime-dedicated event, it will now be taking its festivities to Melbourne and Brisbane! Day festivals will be touring the East Coast in the lead up to the popular weekend long Sydney Animania Festival which will be held again in the lavish surrounds of Sydney City Town Hall.
Anime has become one of the fastest growing pop culture phenomena in Australia and a real testament of this is the inclusion of Animania Festival in the Official Program of the 2006 Australia-Japan Year of Exchange - a year marking the 30 year anniversary of cultural exchange between Australia and Japan.
With its vibrant events, Animania Festival will be helping to further the Year of Exchange's aims of friendship and cultural appreciation by bringing thousands of young individuals together to immerse themselves in everything related to Japanese popular culture.
There will be heaps of exciting events to look forward to including Cosplay (costume play), art workshops, discussion panels, karaoke, games and many other activities centered on everything related to Japanese animation and culture - even a Food Fair at the October Sydney Festival. Animania Festival in 2006 will definitely be a grand year for fans and anyone interested in learning more about Japan.
Animania fever will be rife this year, but if you haven't caught the excitement you'll have to come visit this year's festival (at least once!) to find out what all the fuss is about!
