If you’re a fan of multicultural jewelry and beautiful, ornate weavings, odds are you know international phenomenon Ani Afshar. Even though Ani shut down her old Lincoln Park boutique, she’s been working diligently to create one-of-a-kind pieces for everyone to enjoy at her new home studios in Logan Square.
Afshar’s new Studio Boutique, located at 3224 West Altgeld in Chicago, showcases her hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind jewelry and weaving that are infused with her international background. On Friday, July 24, Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26, stop by and meet Ani herself and view her new July collection.
Afshar’s life is as intricate and multicultural as the art she creates. Born in Turkey and educated in Gstaad, Switzerland, Afshar from an early age lived in both Geneva and Istanbul. Later, she transported to Iran where she developed her talents for weaving. As the revolution broke in Iran, Afshar moved to Chicago where she began weaving in her home studio and selling these delicate and lavish weavings to prominent collectors. Jewelry began a natural evolution for her artistic talents. Afshar was encouraged to expand her reach by opening her own boutique and expose more people to her intricate designs. Eastern and western traditions formed the foundation of her background that is reflected in each of her weaving and jewelry creations.
The new Ani Afshar Studio Boutique is also open for private appointments throughout the month in addition to the scheduled July show. For further information, please call designer Ani Afshar at 773.675.2580.
