Aspiring young dancers are invited to an interactive day of dance with the famous mouse heroine of the Angelina Ballerina storybooks, at American Dance Institute. In honor of National Dance Week, American Dance Institute is hosting an Angelina Ballerina Open House, where children of all ages will enjoy a free afternoon of dance, crafts, performances and a ballet “petting zoo.” The children will have the unique opportunity to meet and dance with Angelina, who is also the spokescharacter for National Dance Week.
During the day, children will be able to try on real tutus and dance at the barre with one of the art center’s professional dance instructors. In addition, they will have a chance to participate in an interactive Angelina Ballerina story dance with Angelina and American Dance Institute’s Youth Ensemble, as well as view a short performance by the ensemble. There will also be Angelina Ballerina arts and crafts and a ballet “petting zoo,” where children can touch and feel real ballet costumes, headpieces, props and shoes and follow along the dance history timeline. To wrap up the fun-filled afternoon, the children can enter a prize drawing to win the Angelina Ballerina storybook, which was used throughout the day’s activities.
To attend the festivities, children must be accompanied by an adult.
