Andy Warhol's Silver Clouds

Andy Warhol’s famous Silver Clouds installation uses silver helium filled “pillows” which continuously float through the 2000 sq. foot gallery. Visitors move through the floating, floor to ceiling moving Clouds in an experience that alludes to “heavens” or an “other worldly” trip. Originally installed in 1966 at the Leo Castelli Gallery in New York City, Silver Clouds inspired choreographer Merce Cunningham to create a dance work with music by David Tudor and sets by artist Jasper Johns. Five Chicago dance companies (Chicago Moving Company, Hedwig Dances, Molly Shanahan/Mad Shak, The Seldoms and Thodos Dance Chicago) will perform during the course of the exhibition with a special date for a Dance in the Clouds for children visiting the museum.
