Andrew Phelps, Director of Game Design and Development, College of Computing and Information Sciences, presents:
The interconnectedness of new and emerging curricula, exceptional students, research and scholarship, inspiration and play. Drawing from experience as founder and co-author of the new Masters of Science in Game Design & Development, principal investigator on Multi-User Programming Pedagogy for Enhancing Traditional Study, a project funded by Microsoft Research, and as a faculty member, Professor Phelps describes the manner in which each of these activities has evolved in a symbiotic relationship with the others. With examples from his research in game engine development and entertainment technology, as well as discussion of the new Masters degree, the presentation concludes with a demo of the MUPPETS engine, an exciting piece of interactive technology developed entirely at RIT by faculty and students in Information Technology, Computer Science, and Software Engineering.
