Ancient Skywatchers of North America March 7, 2009

Join us for part two of the 2009 SunWatch Lecture Series, featuring Bill Iseminger, assistant site manager and public relations director at Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, Collinsville, IL.

This presentation examines the wide variety of structures that American Indians built to track the movement of the sun, moon and stars. He will discuss mounds in eastern North America, the "medicine wheel" rock circles of the Northern Plains, and structures in the Southwest and Mexico, to show how these served as calendar devices for ancient North Americans.
