This course is designed to provide a general introduction to the history and archaeology of ancient Egypt. After presenting and discussing the topographical and chronological setting of ancient Egypt, we will discuss the major periods of ancient Egypt, starting in prehistoric times followed by the major Empires of the Old, Middle, and New Kingdom. Special attention will also be given to the epochs that lay between these kingdoms. The course will use historic documents as well as archaeology to gain a first insight into the lives of ancient Egyptians. Details of this event may be subject to change.
