“[Anat] Cohen has emerged as one of the brightest, most original young instrumentalists in jazz,” writes a Washington Post critic. The Israeli-born Cohen, who studied at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, plays clarinet and tenor saxophone with so much energy and enthusiasm that her live performances are especially thrilling. She was the first female reed player to headline at New York City’s famed Village Vanguard. Also a composer, she has released a half-dozen albums as a bandleader. Cohen, who plays modern and traditional jazz, stole the show in April 2007 when she performed with Diva Jazz Orchestra at Eisenhower Auditorium. She returns to Penn State in the more intimate surroundings of Schwab Auditorium to front her piano-bass-drums ensemble.
Complimentary round-trip shuttle service is provided between the Eisenhower Parking Deck and Schwab Auditorium.
