Product of the fertile mind of Tim Crouch, noted British playwright and performance artist, An Oak Tree offers the audience a rare opportunity to experience a play where exactly half the cast has never seen or read the script.
An Oak Tree tells a story of intertwining human lives that is by turns comic, lyrical, and profound, as two characters are reunited for the first time since an event that changed both of their lives. One of the characters, however, is played by a new actor at each show. This actor walks on stage having neither seen nor read a word of the play he/she is about to perform. Are they truly acting, or are they simply doing what they're told? Is the audience watching a planned performance or something entirely new each night?
