Please join us as Senator McGovern endorses his grandson at Turner Hall, 1034 N. 4th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53203.
Sen. McGovern was the Democratic Party's 1972 Presidential nominee. A decorated World War II B-24 bomber pilot, he is a long-time peace advocate who opposed both the war in Vietnam and the invasion of Iraq. In a recent op-ed piece in The Washington Post, Sen. McGovern urged the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney.
Sam McGovern-Rowen's run for Alderman combines proven leadership addressing public safety, constituent services and neighborhood advocacy in the 3rd District, along with strong commitments to Smart Growth, better transit, job development and successful schools.
Sam and his wife Maureen, a Milwaukee Public Schools teacher, are the parents of twin sons Leo and Cooper.
The Milwaukee Police Association, Milwaukee County Supervisor Gerry Broderick and former State Rep. Dennis Conta have endorsed Sam's campaign. Others in his expanding coalition include environmental advocates, civic leaders and neighborhood business owners.
"I know Sam as a young man of complete integrity, a true political progressive. I've been pleased to see him working in local government at the grassroots to make Milwaukee an even better place to work and raise a family." --George McGovern
