Oct 20 (Tue) - An Evening with Robyn Ochs: 'I Now Pronounce You ... Equal' (Smith Chapel, Penn State Behrend, Erie, PA) 7:30 PM.
Robyn Ochs is a highly acclaimed activist, writer and professional speaker who tirelessly criss-crosses America educating groups about LGBT rights and issues. She is the editor of “Getting Bi,” the first scholarly book about bisexuality around the world (“Getting Bi” is an English-language bestseller and is being released in Chinese and Spanish editions this year). She married her longtime partner on May 17th, 2004 – the first day it was legal to do so in Massachusetts.
Ochs has appeared in print in the Washington Post, Newsweek, Seventeen and in other outlets. She has been interviewed on Donohue, Maury Povich, Hour Magazine and many other television news programs.
Ochs is known for combining substantive information with humor and warmth. In her presentation “I Now Pronounce You Equal,” she first provides a “crash course” in education about same-sex marriage. Ochs then segues into a social consideration of the issue and her own powerful story of marrying her partner, and what it means in emotional, legal and financial terms to be able to marry.
All are welcome to attend! Reception/book signing to follow. Limited parking is available.
