(Johnstown, CO., Jan. 2, 2013)--- Judy Collins has thrilled audiences worldwide with her unique blend of interpretative folksongs and contemporary themes, her impressive career spanning more than 50 years. On Mar. 19-20, 2013 she brings her Grammy-winning talent to the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse in Johnstown, CO.

Judy’s version of Send in the Clowns, a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim for the Broadway musical A Little Night Music, won "Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy® Awards, and her rendition of Joni Mitchell's “Both Sides Now” on her 1967 album Wildflowers has since been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Judy has continued an impressive musical career with an extensive catalog from every decade throughout the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, and up to the present. In 2010, Collectors’ Choice Music reissued nine CDs of Collins’ Elektra titles. Judy’s latest CD, Bohemian, released in October of 2011 to coincide with her 2011 memoir, Suite Judy Blue Eyes, finds Judy Collins revisiting the late-'60s California music scene with four new original cuts and seven covers.

At 13 Judy Collins made her public debut performing Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos, but it was the music of such artists as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, as well as the traditional songs of the folk revival that sparked Judy’s love of lyrics. To date Collins has achieved 14 charted singles with 4 reaching the Top 10 on the AC chart, appeared in 9 films, and authored 7 books.

“We’re excited and very proud to announce the addition of former Coloradoan Judy Collins to the second season of our Candlelight Artist Series,” says Dave Clark, Candlelight’s General Manager. “These concerts represent our ongoing commitment to providing excellent entertainment which we have been bringing to Colorado audiences with our Broadway-style musicals for five years now.”

In 1961, Judy Collins released her first album, A Maid of Constant Sorrow, at the age of 22 and began a thirty-five year association with Jac Holzman and Elektra Records. She interpreted the songs of fellow artists - particularly the social poets of the time such as Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs and Tom Paxton.

Judy is co-director, with Jill Godmillow, of an Academy Award-nominated film about Antonia Brico, the first woman to conduct major symphonies around the world—and Judy's classical piano teacher when she was young. In 1999 Judy founded her own record label, Wildflower Records - a grass roots artist driven label committed to nurturing fresh talent.

Clark adds, “The Candlelight Artist Series has enjoyed great success because of the world-class talent that has performed on our stage. Most recently Academy of Country Music and Grammy Award-winning Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers performed to packed houses for three sold out nights. Other artists include three-time GRAMMY® winner Debby Boone, and Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr., seven-time GRAMMY® winners and original members of The 5th Dimension. The concert series has attracted new patrons from our local communities and Denver, and as far away as Colorado Springs and neighboring states who hadn’t discovered our award-winning Broadway-style musical productions.”
