Best-selling author Jane Hamilton will speak and sign books at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore, California. Hamilton’s appearance is part of the 2009-2010 Rae Dorough Speakers Series.
Hamilton, a witty and insightful speaker, has a deep background in literature and a profound understanding of contemporary society. Her first novel, The Book of Ruth, won the PEN/Ernest Hemingway Foundation Award, was a selection of the Oprah Book Club and the basis for a 2004 television film of the same title. Her second novel, A Map of the World, was an international bestseller, another Oprah Book Club selection, and adapted for a feature film.
