“...bassist Stanley Clarke has found a more than worthy foil in Japanese pianist Hiromi, as dazzling a ball of energy as I’ve ever seen on stage.” —SF Bay Examiner
Recording artist, performer, composer, conductor, arranger, producer, and film score composer, Stanley Clarke is one of the most celebrated bass players in the world. Known for his ferocious dexterity and consummate musicality, Clarke is a true musical pioneer. Unquestionably, he has attained “living legend” status during his 36-year career as a bass virtuoso.
Hiromi has been heralded as one of the brightest new lights on the piano jazz landscape since the release of Another Mind, her 2003 debut recording. Nine years and four critically acclaimed albums later, she has not only lived up to the initial praise for her early efforts but surpassed it entirely—thanks in large part to her spectacular live performances.
After collaborating on the award-winning, acoustic trio effort, Jazz in the Garden, Stanley asked Hiromi to join his Stanley Clarke Band. Now, they will collaborate in the most personal, unique, and daring setting of acoustic duets. No falling back on effects, only the clear, and honest performances to showcase their incredible, and sizable talents.
