'Il Guarany' (The Guarany) is an opera in the grand Italian tradition by Brazilian composer Carlos Gomes, based on the Brazilian novel 'O Guarani,' written by Jose de Alencar, with a libretto in Italian by Antonio Scalvini. It was first performed in 1870.
