Diabetes is reaching epidemic proportions, affecting 20.8 million Americans, including 297,445 adults alone in Maryland. Diabetes is the fifth deadliest disease in America, killing more people than AIDS or breast cancer. This year, the Maryland Chapter of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) continues to raise money in support of diabetes awareness and research. ADA’s annual Walk will take place on October 7 (8 a.m.-1 p.m.) at M&T Bank Stadium (free parking provided at Parking Lot B). Events include a 3.1 mile walk, appearances by the Orioles Bird, Home Depot “Project Kids,” free lunch, plus other fun activities for the entire family.
