"American Women in Music" concert presented by the Cantata Singers featuring Carol Barnett's "The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass" March 1, 2009

The Cantata Singers will offer a concert titled ‘American Women of Music’. This program of commissioned works includes a ground-breaking new work by American contemporary composer Carol Barnett. “The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass”, a work for choir and bluegrass ensemble, was premiered in Minnesota in January of 2007. Our performance will be a regional and possibly New York State premier. The concert will also include a work commissioned 115 years earlier. “Festival Jubilate” was composed by Amy Beach for the opening of the Women’s Building at the World’s Columbian Exhibition of 1892.
