Visitors young and old are invited to participate in a unique holiday experience – the American-Magic Lantern Theater Christmas show – on Saturday, December 18th, with performances at 12:30 PM, 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM at Seaport Museum New York, located at 12 Fulton Street (between Front Street and Water Street) in Manhattan.
A precursor to film, magic lantern shows were a popular form of entertainment in the 19th century. A projector shows images – many in color – and a narrator leads the crowd through an interactive story where guests could end up singing, dancing or acting out portions of the story.
The Christmas performances will take guests through exciting tales of the sea that include shipwrecks, rescue missions, sea creatures and more! Appropriate for all ages.
Tickets to each performance are $5 for museum members, $8 for non-members. Reservations are required and can be placed at (212) 748- 8786 or at reservations@seany.org.
