The American Ballet Theatre is of one of the world’s most revered and innovative dance companies. Under their guidance comes ABT II, a company of 13 young dancers with outstanding talent, hand-picked from around the world. Vigorously trained under the direction of former ABT principal Wes Chapman, this vivacious company offers a thrilling combination of classical beauty and contemporary precision. These dancers (between 16 and 19 years old) receive intensive training as they a groomed for top positions in dance companies across the globe; their company is often used by dancers and choreographers to premier new masterpieces or recreate historic pieces from all eras of dance.
The ABT II company is composed of a dozen young dancers ages 16 to 19 handpicked from around the world by the prestigious American Ballet Theatre for their talent and potential. Although firmly rooted in classical ballet, ABT II’s diverse choreography varies from traditional to contemporary. As the freshest face in the world of professional dance, the company receives rave reviews during their annual tours as ambassadors of dance. Under the leadership of ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie and ABT II Director Wes Chapman, the company participates in an extensive schedule of daily classes, rehearsals and performances, learning from an international slate of the world’s most celebrated choreographers.
