Bluenote-signed Ambrose Akinmusire shot into into the limelight in 2007 after winning the Thelonius Monk International Jazz Competition and the Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition, two of the most prestigious jazz competitions in the world. In 2011 the LA Times named him as 'one of the faces to watch' in music.
