The daughter of a music teacher, Argentinean-born Amanda Miguel decided to pursue a related career after moving to Buenos Aires from her native Chubut, taking piano and singing classes. After meeting singer/songwriter Diego Verdaguer, she joined him in forming an act called Mediterraneo and touring the local club circuit. After being discovered by a Mexican label executive in the early '80s, Miguel recorded her self-titled debut album featuring the hit single 'El Me Mintio.'
