The 2009 Memory Walk will be held in Louisville on Saturday, September 12. This annual event helps raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease in Kentucky, and is organized by the Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. The Louisville walk is one of nearly a dozen being organized in the Chapter’s service area this year.
Held annually in hundreds of communities across the country, Memory Walks call volunteers of all ages to become Champions in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Champions include those living with the disease, families, caregivers, and corporate and community leaders who gather together a team to join in the walk and raise funds for Alzheimer’s research. Americans who have participated in Memory Walks have raised more than $265 million to date.
