Russian religious and folk songs
How did a group of Yalies end up singing Russian music during the height of the Cold War? In 1953, music student Denis Mickiewicz convinced a group of undergraduates to learn Russian songs and sing them for American audiences, who rarely saw or heard that side of Russians and their culture.
The Chorus quickly became a top Yale singing group and travelled to Russia, bringing songs that Russians hadn?t heard since the bolshevik revolution. Tours to Western Europe and recording engagements followed, creating a lasting legacy of glorious music and cultural exchange.

YRC founding conductor Denis Mickiewicz will direct this chorus, which toured in Russia last year to critical acclaim.
