Altan emerged during the 1990s as one of Irelands premier traditional musical groups and has since sold millions of records worldwide. Throughout the last two decades, Altan has managed the tricky task of developing an international audience for what is essentially an unadorned and straightforward presentation of the traditional music and song they grew up with. Through the music of Altan, the great players of Donegal such as John Doherty and Con Cassidy, who band members knew and learned from, are remembered.
