THE ALPS

... The Alps play fuss free post punk TUNES in the vein of The Jam, The Police and Elvis Costello but with their own thorny 21st century twist. The South East London quartet create three-minute gems that look set to barge their way into mainstream consciousness, if the reaction to their first singles are anything to go by.
Steve Lamacq gave 'World at War' their first Radio 1 play. Both 'World At War' and follow up, 'Last Dance' - were both Xfm radio play listed and earned The Alps two live Xfm sessions. They were described as "awesome" from David Hasselhoff (out knight riding, he caught them live at The Metro!), and just keep getting busier and more in demand. They played Reading festival 2005, were one of the bands to grace the first Artful event, returned from a triumphant Italian tour (courtesy of Foreign Affairs) then were invited to play at the after show party for The Mighty Boosh.
The Alps release a new single 'Not So Laughable Now' this summer, and are hard at work on their debut album to follow that. They are now regulars on Xfm radio and have even been picked up by USA stations. The Alps are increasingly in demand. Catch a rare appearance on home turf - it's gonna be mountainous.

TWISTED CHARM

Nathan Doom : (vox/guitar), Dave Dave (bass), Dominic Prus (drums), Luke Georgiou (sax sex) - Tart Rock kings of the London Scene it's the charmingly twisted Twisted Charm, Inspiring purveyors of sharp newer wave art pop anthems and they're back, live on stage in Rocklands. Bred on a diet of punk, new wave, jazz and hip these wayward boys formed and played together, interspersed by Nathan singing/shouting over the top.
After a period playing some of the dirtiest venues on the toilet circuit they were mercifully picked up by Sean McCluskey's 1234 Records who released their debut single Broken Girl in Autumn 004. Now with some record sales behind them they hope to sell even more so they can afford to live somewhere other than vermin infested shit-holes. Armed with songs about whores, boredom and human behaviour,
Twisted Charm aim to kick re-gurgitated r'n'r in the throat and replace it with a more modern, obstinate and unhealthy approach to making music. They do it beautifully and inspire adoration by it.

... Dance fuelled post-garage punk explosion SEX ROCK! Gear are young, hot and more in your face than your cheekbones.
Last year they stunned their way to Glastonbury Festival?s John Peel Stage, supported The Subways, Alabama 3 and Mick Jones. They also caught the attention of Pistols / Glastonbury film maker, Julien Temple who supervised the video for Liquor. A live set cover of ?Ever Fallen In Love? earned the acclaim and attention of Pete Shelley last year and in March of this year Gear doubled their fan base as special guests of The Buzzcocks UK tour. "They look set to carry the mantle the Buzzcocks will eventually leave behind..." said a reviewer at the first show. With original punk legends among their fans, and the one band scene growing around them, that's not so impossible.
Gear have a classic album - Attack Of The Killer Pills - up their collective sleeves - preceded by Liquor/ElectronastE (produced by Phil Vinall (Radiohead, Pulp, Elastica, Placebo, China Drum etc) at the end of May. This month they stormed the airwaves with their live session on Xfm Radio. They're an intense, razor sharp, spiky tuned and tight live rock experience on the rise. You are invited.

CHRIS CHINCHILLA

Chris Chinchilla of the increasingly popular Macaca Mulatta steps out on home turf in South East London on Friday 19th May with The Alps and Gear at The Italian Job, a rock n roll reception for Gian Girardi, the Italian Ambassador of the best British New Music. Macaca Mulatta (Chris on guitar and vocals, Jim Rhesus on bass and vocals, Arran J Lovechild on drums) were rapidly formed several months after Chinchilla left the infamous ?Art Brut?, and London Punks, ?Rhesus?, imploded.
Initially cobbled together to support ?The Rakes? at a secret gig, the band have been speedily developing and playing dates all over the UK and further. It?s still a rough sound, taking shape with a mixture of slower, melancholic songs, Rock calls to arms and dance crossovers all within the confines of a three piece.
Chris Chinchilla also plays solo sets where he sings songs that vary from personal strife to observations and rallying calls to all outsiders. This evening's treat.

There is a British Embassy in Italy helping Newer Wave and Tart Rock bands/labels called Foreign Affairs.  Art Brut, The Rakes, Wrath Records, Ciccone, 100 Bullets Back, Jim Bob, Hey Gravity! and The Boyfriends all know it very well and have received press coverage, airplay and some live dates. It is a PR/Promotion agency set up by Gian Maria Girardi, an Italian DJ who goes by the name of Martini Bros. Also a promoter, he is in touch with hundreds of British bands /labels and Italian journos/DJs and distributors of the alternative rock'n'roll kind.
