Indie rapper turned soul crooner Aloe Blacc and his backing band The Grand Scheme are set to perform in support of his acclaimed new album, Good Things (Sept. 28th, Stones Throw).
Aloe Blacc hits North America on the “I Need A Dollar” Tour following a sold-out European tour. Named after his hit single and the theme to HBO's How To Make It In America (Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR6oYX1D-0w), the string of dates feature Aloe backed by The Grand Scheme.
Good Things marks a musical maturation for Aloe, as well as an emphasis of the political over the personal. Aloe reports on our current condition – from joblessness, homelessness to the general lack of compassion. Things lighten up on the airy “You Make Me Smile” and “Miss Fortune” but the overall tone of the album is one of underlying tension. His cover of The Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale" has recently taken the net by storm. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZagfIvECkeA.
