AllStar Author Showcase (AAS) is an event to promote literacy and literary arts through the motivational power of sports to ultimately inspire, inform, entertain and empower individuals, families and communities.
The event will include local, regional and national authors from various genres; special appearances, guest speakers, live entertainment, book signings, a business expo, a kid-book-zone, food and more on Saturday, February 13, 2010. Live entertainment provided by Dallas-Atlanta base Guest Artist, Kassondra “Von” Rockswell. AAS is a free event.
Event highlights also include: pre-show (at cost) activities - Spoken Word Unbounded hosted by EMMY, Tony, Peabody, award winning HBO Def poet, Georgia Me, Thursday, February 11, 2010 at The Dock Bookshop; and Pajama Party hosted by New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and an Essence best-selling author, Mary B. Morrison on Friday, February 12, 2010.
Also there will be a special tribute to and book signing by Mr. Earl Lloyd, who in 1950 became the first African-American to play in an NBA game with the Washington Capitols, was instrumental in integrating professional basketball as a player and coach.
