BANGALORE, Karnataka

The unprecedented success of our earlier Kannada comedy, ‘Heegadre Hege?’ showed us the great need for laughter and relaxation in these stressful times. Therefore, Kriyative Theatre came up with yet another wholesome comedy, based on the writings of T.Sunandamma by the same team of artistes and technicians. The new play, ‘Aadaddella Olithe..?’, turned out to be even more entertaining and artistic than its predecessor. Scripted by Sunder, the play is designed and directed by Pramod Shiggaon, one of the most talented, young directors working in Kannada today. Sets and props (Sridhara murthy and Vishwas), Songs (written by well known writer, K.Y.Narayanaswamy), music (composed by Gajanana T.Naik), lighting (Muddanna Rattehalli), costumes (Jayanthi Marulasiddappa) and make-up (Ramakrishna Kannarpadi) are all designed to enhance the humour of the play. Apart from Sunder and Laxmi Chandrashekar, the play features well known theatre and television artistes, Ramakrishna Kannarpadi, Vidya Venkataram and Shilpa Rudrappa. The play was premiered at Rangashankara on November 2, 2007.
As a bi-lingual theatre group, Kriyative theatre has produced two of Laxmi chandrashekar’s solo plays in English. Keeping in mind the excellent response to the English versions of these two plays within and outside the country, have been staged in several countries and the growing demand for comedies in recent times, the group decided to reach a larger audience by translating the play into English. The translation, (by Laxmi Chandrashekar) strives to retain the authenticity of the original play without using typical Indian English. The lyrics, set to the original tunes, have been translated by S.R.Ramakrishna, well known composer and translator.
The play gives a humourous depiction of the daily squabbles, dreams and aspirations of an elderly couple whose children are away.
