Taking inspiration from artists such as Rilo Kiley, The Arcade Fire, and Kimya Dawson, Alli Millstein creates refreshing and innovative music that resonates with listeners. Her combination of introspective lyrics and haunting melodies is unforgettable.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut during a snowstorm in January 1988, Alli Millstein is one of the Indie scene’s emerging artists. Alli bought her first guitar when she was twelve years old and began to teach herself, performing before audiences only a few months later. Alli’s first instrument was the saxophone with which she began playing jazz in the fourth grade. Later, Alli furthered her music education at the Hartford Academy of the Performing Arts, earning second place in the Berkley High School Jazz Festival and the Individual Outstanding Performance Award at the University of Massachusetts High School Jazz Festival. Alli was also awarded Downbeat Magazine’s Student Music Award. Alli performed with jazz greats like Paul Brown and Jimmy Greene. More recently, Alli has brought her unique vocal and guitar melodies to coffeehouses and pubs in the Hartford area, including Trinity College’s Underground Café. Alli takes inspiration from the work of Dylan, Jenny Lewis and Kimya Dawson to craft her compelling sound that is no less evocative than these artists who have come before her. “Human Nature” is Alli’s debut EP.
