Written by Arthur Miller, All My Sons is a tremendously impressive drama that received the 1947 Tony Award for Best Play, and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play. It is based upon a true story about a woman who informed authorities that her father had knowingly sold faulty parts to the U.S. military during World War II, inadvertently causing the deaths of 21 pilots. His decision was founded by wanting to leave a successful business to his family. The play is a criticism of the American Dream, forcing us to debate the question of responsibility and obligation to society over family, or vice versa. It reveals how one single decision can affect many lives in very startling ways.
