All City Teen Poetry Slam Festival April 26, 2007

Big Buddys WordPlay is hosting this three-day poetry slam festival, April 26-28 at the Manship Theatre. During the three day event, 13 teams, representing various area middle and high schools (schedule available at www.bigbuddyprogram.org), will participate in writing workshops, open-mic readings, and a poetry slam competition. This Olympic style competition in which original spoken word poetry is scored by judges before a live audience. The young writers will be representing Istrouma High, McKinley High, Broadmoor High, Glen Oaks High, Lee High, Park Forest Middle, Capitol Middle, Capitol High, Christian Life Academy, Belaire High, LSU Lab School, The Dunham School, and Scotlandville High. Tickets for the finals are $10 and $7 and may be purchased at the Theatre Box Office or at www.manshiptheatre.org. Tickets for preliminary bouts are $2 at the door.
