Featuring two of the nation's most-acclaimed high school show choirs
In 2009, the smash hit series "Glee" turned the world of competitive high school show choirs into a nationwide sensation. Yet even before "Glee" hit the airwaves, young music fans across the country were already buzzing about two wildly innovative high school show choirs from Burbank, California - John Burroughs' "Powerhouse" and Burbank High's "In Sync".
Over the past decade, these two groups have helped redefine contemporary show choir garnering countless championships, appearing on national television shows, performing with top celebrities and creating a buzz with their innovative performances from coast to coast. And, year after year, both "In Sync" and "Powerhouse" have consistently ranked in the top 5 nationally, earning Burbank the distinctive title "Show Choir Capital of America."
To celebrate these two programs' extraordinary accomplishments - and as part of Burbank's Centennial - the City of Burbank, Burbank Unified School District, and the Burbank Arts for All Foundation will present The All American Show Choir Super Show at 7pm, June 11th, at the historic Starlight Bowl Amphitheatre.
For one night only, Burbank and Burroughs will set aside their passionate rivalry and lend their talents to a concert event benefitting arts education programs in every Burbank public school. In addition to the two high schools' choirs and other special performances, the evening will also include the appearance of celebrity guests.
As its grand finale, The All American Show Choir Super Show will culminate with all 110 members of In Sync and Powerhouse performing together - on the same stage - for the first time ever.
