Alia Farah in Concert at the Beanery Cafe December 19, 2008

Portland singer-songwriter Alia Farah will be featured in a special performance at 8 pm on December 19 at the Beanery in Aitkin. She has a noteworthy reputation as a proficient vocalist, guitarist and pianist with a diverse musical career which has included lead roles in musicals and operas, and as lead in bluegrass and folk groups. She has also played key roles in successful indie-rock bands, and provided classical and jazz piano at various formal events during her career.

Alia Farah returns to the northern Minnesota area where she grew up to provide a special evening of delightful song accompanied by her guitar. She uses the rainy Portland winter as a time for writing new music, focusing around the piano and experimenting with her recordings. Her music tells stories of life in the country, traveling escapades, interpretations of Tom Robbins novels, and random life adventures, and it reflects that cozy sanctuary we try to create in the midst of our explorations.

This will be a special opportunity for area residents to experience the return of a talented singer-songwriter from the Portland, Oregon market whose youthful roots are from the Tamarack area.
