The Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA) announced today that it had partnered with Politics and Prose, the leading independent book store in Washington, to bring former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan back to Washington DC to speak about the effect of globalization on the American economy.
Greenspan will speak September 19 at The George Washington University Lisner Auditorium. The event will be moderated by Daniel Yergin, a Pulitzer Prize winner and nationally recognized authority on energy policy and international politics and economics.
The conversation will center on Greenspan’s upcoming book, The Age of Turbulence, Adventures in a New World, as well as on the current turmoil in the public and global markets and the workings of the global economy in each of the major regions of the world.
“With more than $90 billion in capital under management, MAVA members are most definitely conducting business in a new global capitalist economy,” said Julia Spicer, executive director of MAVA. “We are proud to have Alan Greenspan speak to our members and business colleagues about the lessons he has learned from nearly two decades as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board and to hear his views on how the underlying dynamics of economic globalization are driving business today,” said Spicer.
Greenspan’s September 19th visit to Lisner Auditorium will provide audience members with a chance to hear how one of America’s leading economists views a new global economy that is more flexible, resilient, and fast-changing than ever before. It will offer a glimpse into the perspective that helped shape American business for much of the last two decades.
