Alameda Writers Group – Los Angeles Presents: Writer/Director Bryan Bertino
Alameda Writers Group is proud to welcome Bryan Bertino July 11th, at the Glendale Public Library, where he will speak about breaking in to Hollywood, the struggles of directing your own work, and how he’s built his career.
Bryan Bertino is a writer/director who made his feature film debut with The Strangers. A native of Crowley, Texas, Bertino studied cinematography at the University of Texas at Austin. Following graduation, he moved to Los Angeles, worked as a gaffer on low budget independents and commercials and as an editor for ESPN.
In 2004, he submitted THE STRANGERS for a Nicholl Fellowship, a grant awarded to unproduced writers by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Bertino sold the script, a quarterfinalist, to Universal Pictures several days later. In 2006, the studio asked him to direct the film.
Bertino is currently writing several screenplays, including The Strangers 2, Black, and Green Eyes, an original drama for Scott Rudin.
