Aladdin Auto Repair Gallery exhibits the metal sculpture of Mahmood Rezaei-Kamalabad October 11, 2007

The Truth of Spirituality is Happiness: exhibit of metal sculptures created by Mahmood Rezaei-Kamalabad. Friday-Sunday, October 12-14, 9 am-9 pm, with an opening reception on Sat., Oct. 13, 5-9 pm. Regular gallery / auto repair hours: Mon.-Fri., 8:30 am-7pm & Sat. 8:30am-2pm. Aladdin Auto Repair Gallery is located behind the Fresh Pond Cinema in the Fresh Pond Mall; plenty of free parking and conveniently located near the Alewife Station on the Red Line. Free and open to all; wheelchair accessible.

All the ingredients necessary for achieving peace can be found in and around Aladdin’s. The art space and auto repair shop are one – with the universe. Wedged between two parked cars is the 1300 lb. 6’x9’ “Birth of the Moon” metal sculpture. Hoisted up on a lift in the back of the gallery / shop is Rezaei-Kamalabad’s “Aladdin Car,” a converted 1989 Dodge Colt which contains the Ghoodsi or Celestial driving system that moves the position of the driver to the center of the vehicle. His “Sense of Unity Machine” is inspired by the work of Muslim scientist Abu Raihan Al-Biruni (973 - 1048 C.E.), who along with other Muslim scientists at that time, used a gyroscope to figure out how the earth, moon and sun all rotate.

Visitors are welcome to relax and sip on strong, spicy Persian tea while perusing Rezaei-Kamalabad’s “Holy Book of Light,” a merger of the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the Koran. There is no rush while everything is repaired in a timely fashion – including the visitor, who will drive away feeling as perfectly balanced as the car.
