Joining forces with the National Ballet of China and long-time collaborator Nitin Sawnhey, Akram Khan has created a company of eight dancers from different cultures and dance backgrounds.
Bahok ("carrier" in Bengali) explores ways in which national identity and belonging are ingrained in, and communicated through, the body. The performers bring together different languages, both verbal and physical, to find a shared medium to communicate their experiences, memories of their homes, and the dreams and aspirations that made them move.
