Join local singer/songwriter Akiva as he celebrates the release of his third album, the double disc set "If I Didn't Work Nights/The Daylight" at 4pm on October 31st at Rockwood Music Hall.
A mix of pop, surf and soul sounds, Akiva began his music career playing Counting Crows covers for fellow UMASS students. As a neurobiology major, he pushed any ideas of a serious music career out of his head as he pursued his original dream of becoming a brain surgeon. But while studying abroad, Akiva found himself spending more time playing gigs in English Pubs and popping up on local radio than dissecting gray matter.
Eventually settling back in New York, he hit the music scene with more enthusiasm than ever and now with the release of “If I Didn’t Work Nights/The Daylight,” Akiva continues to expand his musical horizons.
As Performing Songwriter Magazine said: "It may be difficult to define Akiva's music, but no matter what you call it, we promise you're going to dig it."
