Aisha Tyler April 23rd – 26th
Aisha Tyler’s talent and versatility sparked her rapid ascent in Hollywood and have earned her critical raves and industry respect. Her hot-streak stint as the first female and African-American host of E!’s Emmy-winning “Talk Soup” landed her firmly in the spotlight. After “Talk Soup,” Aisha moved quickly into television and film, enjoying another first: being the first African-American to play an extended character arc on NBC’s “Friends.” She later co-starred with Jennifer Love Hewitt in the CBS hit “Ghost Whisperer,” and had recurring roles on both “CSI” and “24” in the same season. Aisha has made numerous television appearances, including FX’s “Nip/Tuck,” HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Comedy Central’s “Reno 911,” Cartoon Network’s “The Boondocks,” and many more. Aisha’s film career is taking off. Since 2007 she has appeared in Adam Sandler’s hit movie “Bedtime Stories,” alongside Kevin Bacon in the thriller “Death Sentence,” and with Christopher Walken in the comedy “Balls of Fury.” In 2009, moviegoers will see her in “Black Water Transit,” a New Orleans crime drama directed by Tony Kaye (“American History X”) and starring Laurence Fishburne, Karl Urban, and Brittany Snow. Aisha also had roles in “.45,” “The Santa Clause” 2 and 3, and “Never Die Alone.” Aisha got her start as a stand-up comic, and has brought her trademark wit to multiple appearances on “The Tonight Show,” “Late Night with David Letterman,” “The Today Show,” “Politically Incorrect,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “The Late Late Show,” and more. February 2009 brings Aisha’s own hotly anticipated one-hour special to Comedy Central—“Aisha Tyler is Lit: Live at the Fillmore.” Recorded in her hometown of San Francisco at the historic Fillmore rock venue, the special is drawing rave early reviews. Her comedic voice is edgy, honest, and wonderfully refreshing, and a look at her audience reveals her broad appeal: she draws women and men, mainstreamers and urbanites, and the young and old alike. Aisha will tour throughout 2009 to support the DVD, which will be available in stores and for digital download on February 24, 2009.
