Come out and enjoy an evening of story-telling with Michael Strassburger and Robynne Raye of Seattle based Modern Dog. Their heady mix of intuitive design, cheeky humor and punk rock aesthetics has made them unique among design firms, and a hell of a lot of fun. Their work is often seen in the rock poster arena, but they cover a much larger social terrain and have that rare ability to address serious issues while making you laugh deep and from the gut. While giving you a brief overview of their 20 year history (including what it's like working with fun and challenging clients like K2 Snowboards, Blue Q, Coca-Cola, Swatch and Nordstrom) they'll talk about their latest project, a monograph published by Chronicle Books titled Modern Dog: 20 Years of Poster Art. You'll Laugh, you'll cry, you'll win prizes.

Since co-founding Modern Dog Design Co. in 1987, Robynne Raye and Michael Strassburger have continued to do work for entertainment and retail companies - both local and national - and counts poster, packaging and identity projects as some of their favorite work. Their recent clients include Coca-Cola, Adobe Systems Inc., Blue Q, Olive Green Dog Products, Shout! Factory and Oakley. Robynne and Mike have received recognition from every major design organization in the U.S. Their posters are represented in the permanent archives of the Rohan Marsan wing of the Louvre, Library of Congress, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Museum Fur Kunst und Gewerbe, the Warsaw National Museum, Denver Art Museum and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum among others. In early 2008, Chronicle Books published a 20 year retrospective focusing on their poster work.

For more than 16 years they has lectured and taught workshops, both nationally and internationally. Currently, they both teach design courses at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.
