After the Storm: Resolving Post-Separation Conflict November 13, 2008

The Nurturing Center is offering a divorce education class called After the Storm - Resolving Post-Separation Conflict. This class is for parents who have completed Children in the Middle and would like more help with conflict resolution. The causes of conflict are explored, as are its effects upon the parents themselves and their children.


This skills-oriented program will help families learn to:
- Stay involved as effective parents in spite o fthe separation and conflict
- Communicate their feelings without increasing the conflict
- Think differently about dealing with the other parent
- Problem solve aroudn parallel parenting issues
- Listen to the other parent's point of view
- Shield children from exposure to conflict


After the Storm is skill-focused - the approach most likely to produce lasting behavior change. It incorporates thinking pattern changes that will promote behavior change, targets the most stress-inducing parental behaviors for change, and comes with curricular materials for parents to take home.


The fee is $35 per person for this 2-session class. Pre-registration is required. The next class is Thursday, November 13, 4:30-6:30pm and Saturday, November 15, 8:30-10:30am.
