The BSL Symposium has two aims. One is to establish the BSL Alliance to which organisations interested in promoting BSL are invited to join. The second is to begin the process of working together to achieve agreed objectives set out in the national BSL Strategy “Transforming Deaf People’s Lives”.
*Sunday 18th March - BSL Banquet at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury, London. This will be a social event for up to 250 people to celebrate BSL Day and will include the presentation of Deaf Community Awards and an opportunity for lively debate within a relaxing setting. The Banquet will start at 7pm and finish at 1am. If you would like more information or want to book a table or individual places please email bslsymposium@bda.org.uk. We have also reserved limited accommodation at preferential rates at the same hotel, for those wishing to stay overnight. The accommodation is for £120.00 two people, bed and breakfast, for one night in a twin-occupancy room.
* Monday 19th March - BSL Symposium - a UK debate on the future of BSL and the national launch of the BSL Strategy and BSL Alliance. 9.30am to 4.30pm. There will be keynote speakers, themed workshops, debates and so on. The BDA cannot push the agenda for BSL on its own, but seeks an alliance with other organisations, groups, clubs and companies, to work together to safeguard BSL for future generations of Deaf people, their families, friends and colleagues. If you require more information about the BSL Symposium, would like to book places or an exhibition stand, please email bslsymposium@bda.org.uk. We anticipate up to 150 delegates will attend this important event.
