Urban Gateways continues its 50th anniversary celebration with ‘Gala Undone,” an after-party for young professionals
“Gala Undone,” an after-party organized by New Arts Forum members, will extend the merriment of Urban Gateways’ 50th anniversary celebration with a separate fundraiser starting at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, April 1. The benefit event will continue until midnight at Venue One, 1044 W. Randolph St. in Chicago . Urban Gateways’ New Arts Forum is comprised of volunteers between 21 and 39 years-old.
The benefit event features veteran Urban Gateways artist James “Casper” Jankowiak who will paint a large mural during the evening; a performance by BAM!, an Urban Gateways touring group and resident performing ensemble of the Chicago Human Rhythm Project; and dancing to the music of DJ Mister Wolf (of Only Children).
Tickets, $40 in advance and $50 at the door for this party, include a full bar and late-night food and desserts. A silent auction will include works by Urban Gateways artists, wine tastings and vacation packages.
Urban Gateways’ evening of celebration, also at Venue One, begins with a 6 p.m. reception and 7 p.m. dinner also at Venue One. Tables of 10 for this fundraiser start at $3,500 and individual tickets at $350 per person.
New Arts Forum’s Dana Adams and Ingrid Bahr have joined Urban Gateways’ gala co-chairs Lou Conte, Kristine Green and Ronne Hartfield in inviting the gala’s 50 honorees to join the party and meet Urban Gateways’ next generation of advocates.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and Exelon lead the list of corporate sponsors for the benefit dinner, which also will feature silent and live auctions.
In 1961, Jessie A. Woods established Urban Gateways with a group of friends on Chicago ’s South Side. They believed that access to the arts was imperative for a complete education. Today, Urban Gateways provides more than 200,000 arts experiences annually for youngsters in Chicago-area schools, community centers and cultural institutions.
