When Scottish playwright Sharman Macdonald took her daughter, the celebrated actress Keira Knightly, then 13, to see a production of Romeo and Juliet, at the end of the performance, young Keira asked, 'What happened after they died?' Macdonald thought this was a most intriguing question and set out to explore it further. What resulted was After Juliet, a stunning play in blank verse that follows the friends of the famous star-crossed lovers as they grapple with love and loss.
