Performing original compositions grounded in Afrobeat sensibilities, Afroyorkers takes the lead from its founder Azouhouni Adou. Born in the Ivory Coast, Adou began his musical career accompanying some of the most well-known and well-respected Ivorian artists and playing alongside jazz greats such as Tito Puente and John Lee Hooker. In Afroyorkers, Adou melds West African music with Western funk, blues, and jazz for very fun and very danceable live performances.
