Assembly Line Promotions, in association with Afro:Baile, proudly present, first time in Arizona:
MARK DE CLIVE LOWE (MdCL) with special guest LADY ALMA.
Performing "Live" at the Award Winning global event "Afro:Baile"
Hailed as "A Herbie Hancock for the new millenium" by the Montreal Jazz Festival, and "the man behind a million great tunes" by the BBC's Gilles Peterson, MdCL is the leading light in the global "beats and jazz" movement.
A native of New Zealand with heavy roots in Japan, he studied jazz at the Berklee school in Boston before settling in West London. There, he became associated with progressive, dancefloor-oriented producers like IG Culture, Bugz in the Attic, and 4 Hero.
His fresh, original approach to the Rhodes and keyboards made him an in-demand sessioner, but his incredible MPC beat work, songwriting, and production allowed him to step center stage as an artist in his own right. His first album was lauded as "awesome and genius" by Wax Magazine in the UK, and yielded such hits as El Dia Perfecta and Move On Up featuring Cherie Mathieson.
Another production, Relax Unwind, caught the attention of Kenny Dope and Little Louie Vega and was released on Masters at Work (MAW) records. It went on to become a huge underground dance music smash, selling in excess of 200,000 copies.
Huge remix gigs followed, including reworks of Shirley Horne for the Verve Remixed series, Chico Hamilton for Impulse, and collabs with everyone from Lauryn Hill to Ed Motta to Jody Watley to Abdul Shyllon and more.
A second lp, Tides Arising (ABB SOUL) yieled memorable tunes like Heaven and Travelling without Moving featuring Bembe Segue, as well as guests Capital A and D'Angelo bass player Pino Palladino.
In all, he has been involved in over 150 projects, and his live "Freesoul Sessions" have taken him from Auckland to Tokyo to London to Amsterdam and points beyond, and in the US, he has done performances in NYC, LA, San Francisco, Seattle and the Winter Music Conference in Miami.
